I've always been a huge Dexter fan, such a unique sound and vocabulary. Lots of great sounds in this solo and much of it falls nicely on guitar, I translated a lot of it to the 5th position 'C' cage position. Watch out for the out of position stretch to grab the B natural, it works well when you get to grips with it and is a useful device to get the bebop flavour going. It's got a strong C mixolydian sound so look out for how the various F major derived triads juxtapose against the C to lend it the modal flavour. There are some double time runs which are tricky to play at speed but the actual isolated vocabulary is the important thing to me, worth a study.
Any contributions are always gratefully received! Thank you :)
