I love transcribing "Octopus" but at the same time often find it frustrating because he had such a unique mind map of the instrument which means that when it comes to trying to work out a logical fingering for a phrase.....forget it! You only have to watch a video of Tal playing to see that as he had such massive hands he often spanned many frets at a time which makes figuring out the fingering positions that he may have played hard to say the least. Which is why there are some odd choices in what I've published but I've done my best to follow the tone of the strings to try and work out where he played them as well as trying to pick up on the slurs/pull offs/hammer ons. Bars 11-13 are a good example, there are easier ways to play this but following the clues, this is what I reckon he played. Regardless I hope you enjoy it and it's worth having a look at for some of the II V phrases, esp the last one.
